Charles Casey Latham age 85, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 23, 2024, at the Bells Nursing Home in Bells, TN, surrounded by his loving family.

Charles was born on July 2, 1938, to Travis and Birtie Latham in the Beech Bluff community. He attended Beech Bluff School. His first job was at Kendrick Gas Station on Royal. There he met his wife, Ann McKay.  Charles then started his meat career at Highland Park Grocery. He worked at many grocery store chains in the south. In 1961, he transferred to St. Louis to work for the Liberty Corporation. He worked in St. Louis until 1969, moving then to Memphis and working at Montesi and Davidson for 2 years. In 1971, Charles and Ann bought a Butcher Shop/Barbecue business in South Jackson and named it C & L Meat Co. Later on, they opened a location in North Jackson. They were in the meat business until 1984. In 1985, they began Charles Latham Construction, where they developed Orchard Hill Subdivision. They were in the construction business until 2017. He semi-retired from the construction business by managing rental properties until 2021.

Charles married his late wife Ann McKay Latham on September 2, 1956. They were married for 60 years. She preceded him in death in 2017. He was blessed again in life to marry his second wife Betty Waddell Austin on July 26, 2019.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was proceeded in death by his three brothers, David, Billy, and Bobby Latham and one sister, Vicki Blasingame.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Waddell Latham; three children, Susan Griffin, Charles “Chuck” Latham, and Sandra Laws (David); His six grandchildren, Dr. Lucas Butler (Laura), Laticha Ramirez, Lance Butler (Jessica), Malorie Diaz (Milton), Casey Laws (Nastasha), and Cameron Laws (Brittany); fifteen great grandchildren; one brother, Paul Latham and two sisters, Linda Emerson and Judy Baggett.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Charles will be conducted Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Woodland Baptist Church, 885 Woodland Church Rd, Brownsville, TN with Pastor Randy Kellough, and his two grandsons Dr. Lucas Butler and Casey Laws officiating. The Latham family will receive friends on Saturday at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials or honorary donations be directed to his granddaughter, Laticha Ramirez, who is currently battling stage 4 colorectal cancer, as this is what her “Pawpaw” would want.
