David "Tony" Britt

October 6, 1959 — January 28, 2022

On January 28, 2022, David “Tony” Britt, unexpectedly, left his mortal home to take up residence in his eternal, heavenly home.

Tony was born October 6, 1959, in Henderson Tennessee, to his adoring parents, Joe Walter Britt and Laura Francis Britt. Tony was the middle of three boys; his brothers were Daryl Britt and Greg Britt.

Tony was preceded in death by both of his parents, brothers and his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Tony is survived by his son, Joshua Britt; daughter, Maranda Britt; three grandchildren, Celine Marie Carraway, Dylan Haynes, Evan Britt; three great-grandchildren, DJ Carraway, Carter Carraway, Cash Carraway; the mother of his children, Dayna Britt; and his longtime companion, Alicia Blair.

After high school, Tony entered into the HVAC and mechanical trades; he continued working in the trades until a few months before he passed away. On April 3, 1978, Tony married Dayna. The two met in Jackson Tennessee, at Muse Park, and were married for 29 years. Their love was matchless, and even through divorce they remained friends and cared deeply for one another. Soon after they were married their son, Joshua Lee Britt was born, and two years and twenty days later, their daughter, Maranda Marie Britt, was born. Tony often spoke about his love for the Lord. He believed in the order of the family: God first, family second, and self-last. In times of tribulation and trouble he would depend on Jesus’s grace and God’s direction to get him and his family through. Tony was a giver and he always took the opportunity to express his love for his family. Tony loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as any proud father, and “Popal” would; they are left knowing the love of a father and grandfather, with no hesitations or doubts. To know Tony, was to put a smile on your face and laughter in your soul. He was always happy, easy-going, and loved socializing with family and friends; he never met a stranger. Tony was always on the go; he enjoyed trips to the river, fishing, firing off a good quality firearm, and he loved an old-fashioned backyard cookout. He looked forward to Sunday dinner, at Granny’s (Laura Holder). Though picking up the pieces that Tony left behind will be difficult, peace is found, knowing without a doubt, all who loved Tony, were also loved by Tony.

A memorial service will be held in Tony’s honor, at  Medina Funeral Home & Cremation Service (302 W. Church Ave., Medina, TN 38355) on February 11, 2022, at 1pm.

We little knew that day,
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death, we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you.
You did not go alone.
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.

You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide.
And although we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.
