In loving memory of Judith Ann Hayes Brake, who peacefully departed on December 30, 2023 at the age of 76. Born on March 17, 1947 to Claude and Alice Hayes in Milan, TN, Judy's journey unfolded with grace and purpose.

After graduating from Milan High School in 1965, she pursued studies in Office Occupations at Area Vocational - Technical School in McKenzie, TN, paving the way for a fulfilling career. Judy's professional path led her through roles at Coin Cylinder and Tire and Battery Company in Memphis before becoming the proud owner/operator of D&J Frameworks and Gallery in Milan, TN, where she left an enduring legacy for over two decades.

In the early '60s, she met Clint Brake, and were married in 1966. 29 years of marriage blessed them with three children—Amy, Matthew, and Mark. In 2005, she married Thomas May, sharing precious moments until his passing in 2015.

Upon retiring in 2010, Judy embraced life's pleasures, relishing moments with family, friends, and her passions for music, art, and Native American culture. A dedicated member of The Eastern Star, Milan Chapter 261, Judy's impact resonated far and wide.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude B. and Alice Hayes; grandparents,  Claude C. and Ethlene Hayes; and brother,  Clayton Hayes.

Judy leaves a lasting legacy. She is survived by her loving children, Amy (Brooks) Leonard-Bishop, Matthew (Katie) Brake, and Mark Brake. Judy's spirit lives on through her five grandchildren, Jeremy (Patricia) Leonard, Jennifer Jackson, Jesse Leonard, Duncan Brake, and Phoebe Brake, as well as six great-grandchildren, Jordan (Abbie) Jackson, Jacobe Jackson, Journee Johnson, Tripp Kelly, Keaton Leonard, and Kinsley Leonard.
Eagerly anticipated was the arrival of her first great-great- grandchild, Cohen Jackson.

Judy's memory will forever be cherished by those who were touched by her kindness, love, and the vibrant tapestry of a life well-lived.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at the Milan Masonic Lodge.
