Marna Reasons

May 24, 1950 — September 30, 2012

Marna Lee Reasons

Marna was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 24, 1950.  She and her parents, Laird and Lois Holbrook, subsequently moved to Elyria, Ohio.  From Elyria they moved to South Florida where Marna graduated from Stranahan High School. She passed away September 30, 2012 from complications arising from a long-term illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Laird and Lois Holbrook.  She is survived by her son, Scott Reasons, his wife Anna, and grandchildren Lucas, Joshua and Kayla; her daughter, Jennifer (Reasons) Carter, her husband Zac; and her other children, Kim (Reasons) Frerichs, her husband R, and grandson, Andrew; Tony Reasons II, his wife Haley, and granddaughters, Lyla and Jolie; Leslie (Reasons) Moody, her husband Greg, and granddaughter, Caitlin; and Dana Reasons and granddaughter, Ashley.

Marna’s first employment was with the Florida Department of Transportation where she was a very talented draftsman and her work product was noticed by other agencies.  One of those agencies was the City of Hollywood, Florida.  She left her position at the Florida Department of Transportation in favor of a new position with the City of Hollywood, Florida.  She was involved, not only in drafting, but also the preparation of visual aids that enabled the City government to better explain certain projects that were being proposed.  She became involved with the City Manager’s office where she produced high quality graphic aids used to explain how revenues were distributed.  All of her material showed ability in art work.  Her initial employment started at the City of Hollywood in 1973 and she left that position and moved to Humboldt, Tennessee where she was employed by Reasons Engineering and Associates. Her role there was very similar to what she had become very proficient in previously.  She was also an officer of Reasons Engineering and Associates for 21 years.

Marna was multi-talented in several areas.  She had natural music ability and enjoyed   playing the organ and accordion.  During her earlier years she was a member of the Riverland Road Baptist Church and played the organ during church services on occasion.  She was also very talented in homemaking skills where she found her deepest joy of being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed crocheting and produced several well received products. She loved preparing homemade meals and enjoyed cooking for family gatherings.  Everyone always looked forward to those occasions.  She prepared a wide variety of meals, and it was always a pleasant surprise as to what she may cook next.  A related passion was in canning vegetables for consumption.  If the vegetables were not in season locally, she was so interested, she would go to the grocery store and buy something to can. Her natural abilities in those areas will be missed.  Other hobbies included drawing, reading, and playing games.  She could talk easily to people and enjoyed joking around with them.  She like being outdoors and especially loved watching it snow.  Marna was loved by many and will be especially missed by all who knew her.
