Mrs. Nellie Florence Ellington Crutchfield age 87 of Bells, passed away Monday, August 14, 2023, in Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born June 15, 1936, in Crockett County to the late J.C. Ellington and Tressie M. Holt Ellington. Mrs. Crutchfield retired from KMart after thirty plus years of loyal service and was a longtime member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby A. Crutchfield; daughter, Barbara Durbin; brother, James "Bud" Ellington; two sisters, Rebecca "Becky" Cole and Carolyn Cheatham.
Survivors include her son, Clarence Allen Crutchfield and wife Sherma of Alamo; sister, Mary Cole of Gadsden; special niece, Sherri Gideon and husband Stanley of Bells. Other survivors include three grandchildren, Daniel Crutchfield and wife Catherine, Marcie Crutchfield Moore and husband Matt and Brandi Jones and husband Jason as well as six great grandchildren, Dakota Jones, Destiny Jones, Kori Jane Moore, Gus Moore, Eden Crutchfield and John Allen Crutchfield.
Serving as pallbearers are Joe Cole, Nathan Gideon, Jason Jones, Scott Cole, James McCall, Stanley Gideon, Windell Hart and Marco Bautista. Honorary pallbearers are Danny Ellington, John Edwards and Zane Morris.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Crutchfield will be conducted Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Walnut Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Justin Moreland, DJ Brewer and Bro. Grover Westover officiating. Burial will follow in the Walnut Hill Church Cemetery. The Crutchfield family will receive friends on Thursday at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour at 2:00 p.m.
