Mrs. Velma Stavanau, age 80, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022 in Jackson, Tennessee.

She was born on June 10, 1941 in Dyersburg, Tennessee to the late Hubert Westmoreland and Carrie Westmoreland.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Velma was preceded in death by six brothers, Vern Westmoreland, Jack Westmoreland, Joe Westmoreland, Aaron Westmoreland, Frank Westmoreland, and Jim Westmoreland and two sisters, Joyce Trinosky and Judy Longmire.

She is survived by her son, Allyn Stavanau, II of New York; daughter, Paula Westmoreland and her husband Jeff of Jackson, Tennessee; three brothers, Bill Westmoreland and his wife Geri of  Indiana, Dale Westmoreland and his wife Regina of Indiana, and Alan Westmoreland and his wife Sandi of Mississippi; sister, Dorothy "Dot" Cook and her husband Dwight of Mississippi;  four grandchildren, AshLee Penney and her husband Travis, Allyn Stavanau, III, Lily Stavanau, Lucretia Chanell and her husband Greg; two great grandchildren, Bexley Penney and Wyatt Channell.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, January 28, 2022 at Bemis United Methodist Church in Jackson, Tennessee with burial to follow at Hopewell Cemetery near Medina, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the service hour on Friday.
