Mrs. Altye Merchant, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at her home in Jackson, Tennessee.

She was born on October 17, 1932 in Jackson, Tennessee to the late Floyd T. Watkins and Lila Virginia Taylor.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Altye was preceded in death by her son, Floyd E. Merchant; brother, Floyd T. Watkins, Jr.; sister, Shirley J. Watkins; granddaughter, Linda G. Tims; two half brother's, Loyd C. Watkins and Arbie R. Maclin; and step mother, Roberta E. Alexander Watkins.

She is survived by her children, James D. Merchant of Decaturville, Tennessee; Linda D. Younger (Randy) of Thompson Station, Tennessee, Bruce A. Merchant of Jackson, Tennessee, and Carol J. Tims (Glyn) of Jackson, Tennessee; nine grandchildren, Carl (Amanda), Stephanie (Tommy), Alan, Heath, Trevor (Stormi), Aaron, Kaitlyn, Kathryn (Timothy), and Hunter (Myra); and eight great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held from 12:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at Ivey Hall in Jackson, Tennessee.
