James Thomas Blackmon

February 20, 1949 ~ January 11, 2022 (age 72)


James Thomas Blackmon left this earth on January 11, 2022 to go to his heavenly home.

Tom leaves behind his beloved wife of thirty three years, Susan Williams Blackmon. He also leaves behind his brother Bill Blackmon (Mary Edna) of Middlesboro, KY and brother in laws Johnny Williams (Josephine), Bart Williams (Celia) and Tommy Williams (Mary Ann). Tom had nieces’ nephews and cousins who all dearly loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Rachel Jones Blackmon and William B. Blackmon and Tom’s son Gabe Blackmon.

Tom’s life was a gift to all who knew him. He lived and devoted his life in service to the care of others. Tom retired in 2000 but he continued to be a caregiver. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church until his final years .Even with the most difficult and challenging health issues, Tom maintained an attitude of gratitude, patience and humor. Throughout it all Tom showed a love and concern for others. He had a great interest in music and theology. Tom cherished the solace of returning to his heavenly father.

A celebration of Tom's life will be held Saturday, January 22 at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 1573 N. Highland Avenue, Jackson, TN 38305. Visitation and Reception To Follow The Service, Next Door In Memorial Hall. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be directed to First Presbyterian Church or to the charity of the donor's choice in memory of Tom.
