Mr. Jimmy Lee "Jim" Crews

Jackson, Tennessee

Mr. Jimmy Lee "Jim" Crews, age 81, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, September 8, 2019 after a long, two year battle of bladder cancer.

Jim was a long time resident of Jackson, Tennessee. He was born on October 28, 1937 to the late Hester H. and Mary Iver Wallace Crews. On March 8, 1957 Jim married his high school sweetheart Linda Brawner, who remained the love of his life for sixty two years. Jim graduated from Northside High School in 1957, where he was the star pitcher for the Northside Indians baseball team. After graduating high school, Jim worked for Blue Plate Foods for a short time before moving to Riverside, California in 1958 with his family. While in California, Jim worked for Rohr Aircraft Company during the day and as a waiter at the historic Mission Inn Hotel at night where he waited on many celebrities. Jim moved his family back o Jackson to start a business with his brother, Bud, which was the beginning of Crews Bros. Tile Contractors. Jim operated the company for thirty-three years before going to work at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Jim was employed at the hospital, for nearly seventeen years, as a master carpenter in the construction department before retiring in July of 2010 at the age of 73. He loved the Lord and has been active in church all his life. Jim served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and on many church committees. Jim's favorite past time, since retirement, was spending time with his family; especially watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow.

Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by two brothers, R.B. "Bob" Crews and Henry Paul Crews.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; three children, Debbie (Mike) Ross, Janet Graves, David Crews and bonus son, Kenneth Parks; five grandchildren, Clint (Michelle) Ross, Jamie (Chris) DiChiara, Kristie (Danny) Fowler, Mitch Graves and Ana (Gunnar) Scott; ten great grandchildren, Carolina, Gunner, Ace, Payne, Tanner, Ellie, Jase, Lyndsey, Hadleigh and Grayson. Jim is also survived by two brothers, Bud Crews and Bill Crews; three sisters, Sue Elder, Dianne Winbush and Patsy Moody; and many nieces and nephews.
