Mrs. Mildred Blurton Droke age 94 of Humboldt, formerly of Bells, passed away Monday, September 7, 2020 in Humboldt Healthcare and Rehabilitation.

She was born November 2, 1925 in Gadsden to the late Luther Blurton and Aubrey Boals Blurton. Mrs. Droke had served as a dental assistant for Dr. H.E. McDaniel in Alamo for many years. She was a long time member of Bells First Baptist Church and most recently The Church at Sugar Creek after relocating to an assisted living center. Mrs. Droke loved to sing in the choir at church and always looked forward to teaching Bible school as she taught until in her late eighties. She was a member of the WMU and the American Legion. She was a extremely talented as she enjoyed to write and recite poetry as well as loved to dance. Her greatest joy came from knowing that all her children and grandchildren knew Jesus.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Droke was preceded in death by her husband Herschel Droke; sister, Doris Swindler; brother, Neil Blurton; granddaughter, Ann Rhea Sevier as well as a granddaughter-in-law, Stephanie Crutchfield Jones.

Survivors include three daughters, Dinah Lowery and husband Darrell of Gadsden, Melinda Sevier and husband Bill of Lawrenceburg and Julia Jones of Bells. Other survivors include eleven grandchildren, Gretchen Lowery, Spencer Lowery, Penelope Sevier (David Lay) Clare Ray (Josh), Will Sevier (Tesha), Sarah Minchey (Dustan) John Sevier (Stephanie), Charlie Sevier (Cari), Meggie Butler (Richard), Eli Jones (Megan) and Seth Jones.

Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons, Spencer Lowery, Will Sevier, John Sevier, Charlie Sevier, Eli Jones and Seth Jones.

A private funeral service will be held Friday, September 11, 2020 with her grandson,  Pastor Will Sevier officiating. Burial will follow in the Belleview Cemetery.
